About SWRmusic

SWRmusic is the label of the SWR Media Services on which recordings of the internationally renowned SWR orchestras and ensembles as well as outstanding archive recordings are released in cooperation with Naxos. The label has established itself on the fiercely contested music market. The numerous awards and prizes awarded to SWRmusic attest to its success.

The musical spectrum of the label ranges from major orchestral compositions through a-cappella works to chamber music and jazz productions, from the Viennese classical composers Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to contemporary composers such as Luigi Nono, György Kurtag, and Wolfgang Rihm - to name only a few. SWRmusic presents musical events of the highest order of excellence.

The SWR not only enriches the international discography with its high-quality recordings featuring internationally top-ranked ensembles and orchestras but also employs the expertise of its music editors and resources of its archives for photographic and textual materials in order to secure the position of SWRmusic on the world market.

In addition to chamber music recordings with internationally established artists, SWRmusic presents the musical work of the following orchestras, ensembles and festivals:

• SWR Symphonic Orchestra
  This orchestra arose from the merger of the SWR Symphonic Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg and the Radio Symphonic Orchestra of the SWR in 2016
• German Radio Philharmonic of Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern
  This orchestra was formed in 2007 when the Saarbrücken Symphonic Orchestra (SR) and the Kaiserslautern Radio Orchestra (SWR) merged.
• SWR Vocal Ensemble of Stuttgart
• SWR Big Band
• SWR Schwetzinger Festspiele
